Who loves typography? We do! Especially when we're our own customer! Love how my programs turned out for my wedding!

I have a friend who is an avid Harry Potter fan....like she almost unfriended me because I didn't know what the deathly hallows symbol was. I'm stills little uncertain, but it was fun to take modern-classic font and hand draw it for this very special girl!

Something I used to do a lot that I don't do much anymore is stenciling. It used to be my thing...I stenciled a lot. 

This weekend I got back into it. There's something uniquely challenging about hand lettering in a way that can be cut out! And in the delicacy required for cutting out the detailed letters...

Get inspired

I'm working on trying to start sketching again more regularly. Apparently it's like a muscle that atrophies if you don't exercise it enough because I've been getting frustrated...but I shall persevere!

What inspires you? How do you get your creative fix?

"Normal girls ask for jewelry...only you would ask for a font," my future husband once exclaimed as I was patiently trying to explain to him what I wanted for my birthday a couple years ago.

What girl wouldn't want a modern-flair avant garde font for their birthday? I love me some Mostra!

Inspiration

Today, cupcakes and beer were my inspiration to run, and the flowers of Central Oregon's June "springtime" are my inspiration for my artwork.

No, I don't care about what those words say. What I care about is how glorious those font combos are. It's a new trend, it's modern meets retro in the realm of Helvetica meets...well...I should be able to recognize those fonts on sight, but I don't.

It's still beautiful and glorious.

Retro meets modern is the beat of my soul, it's what I wish my outward style would mimic. It is my aspiration.

Identity

In college, I had a whole class regarding branding, identity, and consistency across your brand. Ironically, it took me until now -- 2 months before my wedding -- to realize that I have been unconsciously applying that standard to the collateral I've been designing for my wedding.

We have a brand.

It just goes to show that if utilized often enough, little things become habit. I've got to say, consistency across a "brand" is not so bad a habit to have.

We are getting married soon and all of the Pinspiring font choices for our chalkboard signs are simply overwhelming! Do we want script? Rustic? Modern? Chic? Eclectic? Serif or non? How does one decide for the signage for the biggest day of ones life?
